| Vintage Licks Guitars is focused on providing exceptionally good sounding vintage acoustic guitars and resonators professionally set up and suitable for accomplished players and professional musicians who seek that authentic sound of the depression and war time eras.
Our concentration is on providing Gibson and C.F. Martin & Co. small body flat top models and select Jumbo & Dreadnought models along with guitars from other manufacturers including cool and interesting old parlor guitars.
Many of the guitars offered are “finds”, meaning these guitars have been out of circulation or never seen before on the world wide web. Some having spent decades under beds and in closets as family heirlooms. Some have even been consistently played by these families. After we acquire these instruments, they are inspected, repaired as necessary and set up by highly skilled professional luthiers to sound their very best. Most spend considerable time in our picking circle being played and enjoyed prior to posting here or at my Gbase Store. Key to providing these guitars are the skilled luthiers I am fortunate to have in both my neighborhoods: my Winter home in Fort Myers, Florida and my New England place in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. Two of New England’s best who perform professional quality maintenance and setups on my collection are David Hatchard, a skilled builder and repairman who is featured here on the site and Pat DiBurro, the well-known Martin, Taylor and Collings factory authorized repairman located in Exeter, New Hampshire. And in Florida, the well-known Ross Teigen Guitars of Hawthorne. David, Ross and Pat all perform luthier services out of their own shops that are open to the public where they work on individual players guitars as well as outside work for other guitar shops such as The Music Emporium in Boston and My Favorite Guitars in Naples.
