ca 1920s George Washburn Model 1915 Parlor

Model 1915 George Washburn Parlor manufactured between 1915 and the early 20s.

I’ve always loved Parlors and this example has the nice Brazilian rosewood back and sides, Adirondack red spruce top and is a true jewel. Vintage appropriate replica tuners and we think a fine quality ebony replica bridge matching the ebony fret board and topped off with a rosewood overlay on the peg head.

The tight crazing of the original non molested French polished back and sides is absolutely wild.

Recent pro set up by Ross Teigen of Naples Florida.

Nice  sounding finger picker with a 1 3/4″ nut and comfortable action, a true joy to play and hear. Simply a fun old survivor.
Strung with
extra light  bronze but plays nicely  with silk and steel as well .

Watch it played by our friend Fish.

With newer well fitting hard case.

Of note…..The Washburn guitar company started making guitars in 1883 in Chicago as a division of stringed instrument maker Lyon & Healy. Lyon & Healy was making plucked string instruments in the 1880s, with Washburn (guitars, mandolins, banjos, and zithers) being their premier line. The Washburn factory would later be involved with Delta Blues as a result of an influx of African Americans to the area in the 1920s. This type of blues would change the way blues music was played, and would also change rock and roll. This blues movement helped in the success of Washburn guitars at that time. The musicians played the guitars as well as making them by hand. The Washburn guitar and the blues movement that it was involved with are associated with Maxwell Street. This street is only a few blocks from the factory where Washburn guitars were first embraced.
