1946 Martin 00-18

Everything on this player is all original with absolutely no refinish or over spray or any funny business. Even the original post wartime plastic tuner buttons appear to never have been off! However this guitar does have plenty of mojo, scratches and pick rash from years of play, but no major gouges and is mostly crack free. Clean original and unmolested bridge plate and never the need for any structural repairs other than a small well executed patch at the lower bout butt end side and a neck set, re fret of the first 14 frets, a new bone saddle and a set of proper replica bridge pins from Willi Henkes in Germany.

All work impeccably performed by my luthier David Hatchard of Exeter New Hampshire , and it should be because it’s his guitar. Work also included a professional set up with proper string break over the saddle with the action set at 3-2 with spot on intonation. 1 11/16″ width at the original ivory nut and comfy relatively shallow neck profile. David is currently motivated to sell this guitar and his price reflects his motivation. This is a great deal on an early post war – great sounding Martin.

The top is sitka spruce and the braces are 40s tapered. The neck passes the magnet test for an embedded ebony truss rod. S/N 95897 places this guitar approx mid 1946.

Make no mistake, this is an exceptionally good sounding players guitar with very focused rich Martin tone and sweetness and an easy playing neck with proper frets.

This 00 rivals the sound quality of my outstanding  ’45 000 I have posted, and that’s no bullshit!
