1957 C. F. Martin 000-21 – Adirondack top

This is a 1957 C. F. Martin 000-21 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar made in Nazareth, PA, natural finish, tight grained Brazilian rosewood back and sides, Adirondack red spruce top; mahogany neck with nicely figured Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge. Tapered straight braced with rear shifted X brace and light as a feather with essentially the same specs developed in the mid-forties.

These are rare birds indeed because of the limited quantities manufactured and for reasons apparent, they are faithfully held onto and simply don’t often hit the market. According to Johnson & Boak – Martin Guitars A Technical Reference 50 000-21s were manufactured in 1957. And according to Martin shop records, 25 of those were Adirondack red spruce topped and this is without a doubt one of them, as confirmed by the serial number of this guitar.

Everything is all there and all original with absolutely no refinish or over spray and no funny business what so ever. This instrument has very few superficial character scratches and a wee bit of buckle rash on the back but no gouges and is totally crack free.

Boldly speaking, I truly believe this to be the finest example of a 14 fret 000-21 of any year currently available for sale in the US.

As I’ve stated in the past, I’m most commonly known for my small bodied depression era Gibson’s but I totally get the appeal of the Post War era Martins. And I’ve been fortunate to have owned and played some good ones and this guitar is very special indeed and can truly be described as magical.

Clean original and unmolested bridge plate, original ivory nut and never the need for any structural repairs.

Effortless playability with focused sound characteristics of strong projected mids – trebles, due to the rear shifted X bracing. Professionally set up and suitable for the accomplished player. Action is set at ~ 3/2 with a 1 11/16″ nut and 24.9″scale. Proper string break across the bone saddle.

Offered in a new CF Martin badged Geib style 000 case.
