1934 Gibson L-00

A look inside the sound hole of this small sunburst L-00 reveals solid lining, a Gibson build detail specific to only 1933 and 34. The factory order number points to 1934 and that’s confirmed by the lovely small sunburst pattern of the original finish. We prize these early 14 fret L-00 guitars for their light build, beautiful burst, and lively tone.

Naples Florida luthier Ross Teigen was the first repairman to work on this guitar. We could detect no prior repairs aside from a replaced bass tuner strip. Ross’s impeccable work included routine Gibson maintenance: re gluing the ends of a couple loose braces and resetting the neck. He also closed a short back crack – the guitar is otherwise crack-free.

The original Brazilian rosewood bridge is full height and the bridge plate is original. The original bass side tuner strip is back on with one tiny exposed screw hole touched up. The tuners are original Waverly bent tab strips with white buttons. Original frets and clean Brazilian rosewood fretboard show no wear. Ross’s excellent setup work will satisfy even the most demanding professional player.

Although the top shows a few scars and initials, the finish is original with no over spray and the guitar is remarkably well-preserved. This 1934 model has all the characteristics we consider most desirable for an L-00, resulting in a brilliant sound. Listen to the YouTube videos to hear what it can do. Fish plays two versions of Little Martha, one finger style and one flat picked, plus many other styles to demonstrate the range of tones available.

New well fitting hard case included.
