1933 Gibson L-0 / L-00

Early model small sun burst L-00 or possibly L0 with back binding and the higher style stained shaded top that appeared prior to colored lacquer, which along with the pick guard is also seen on the Century of Progress model ….this IS one of my holy grail guitars, what I always try to find for myself and to share with you players out there. Perhaps it’s because these early examples have the most precise radius to the extra thin seemingly seamless red spruce tops (perhaps single piece on this one?) with the solid non kerfed lining or it’s the thin scalloped braces or just how damn light they are built! But these always sound the very best.

This example HAS that fine voice! Lively to play and a dream to hear. Crystal-clear sounding with a thunderous low end, dry ringing sustain all the way up the fretboard with bright mid range, without a hint of shrillness or metal in the sound, ideal for single-note finger picking leads. Explosive tone pickers crave! The openness of tone is remarkable. Slightly under 1 11/16″ at the nut with a comfy soft oval V neck, not the typical later chunky deep V.

All original crazed finish with no flaking or over spray and crack free sans a few well repaired small backside surface hairlines and one often seen between the fretboard extension and the sound hole, well repaired with a thin oval cleat tucked underneath that’s not noticeable. First 12 frets replaced and all divots tastefully filled on the original Brazilian rosewood fretboard.

Original tuners and buttons, bridge and the bridge plate are un-molested. All restoration impeccably performed by David Hatchard including a neck set and professional set up with action at 3-2 and proper string break across the new bone saddle and new ebony nut.

This one has been out of circulation for many many years, not seen on the net and well dried and well played….this example has it all! A guitar for the serious accomplished player or professional musician who knows and understands the difference between the prettiest girl at the dance and the best dancer.

A terrific sounding vintage L00 at an attractive price.  Enjoy the YouTube videos at mt YouTube channel….
